Janesville Fire Department Receives New Ambulances

Post Date:04/05/2018 12:12 p.m.

On March 20, the Fire Department took delivery of two 2018 Ford F550 Horton ambulances.  The funding for these units was in the 2018 Capital Improvement Plan.  The department used funds from the Vehicle Replacement Fund set aside by the City Council starting in 2017 to reduce the amount needed from the Capital Improvement Plan.  This was a joint purchase with the Edgerton Fire Department which resulted in additional cost savings by entering into a joint multiple vehicle purchase.

On Friday, March 23, department members worked to stock and equip these units to get them placed into service.  The two new ambulances will be housed at Station One (303 Milton Ave.) and Station Four (4117 E Milwaukee St.).  With this purchase all frontline and reserve ambulances in the departments fleet are within their in service life expectancy at this time.
