Grass and Yard Waste Ordinance Reminder
As citizens begin summer maintenance on their property, they should be aware that according to City of Janesville Ordinance 12.44.060, grass, grass clippings, and lawn debris are prohibited from being placed on city streets at any time. This can be prevented during mowing by not discharging your mower towards the street.
Lawn debris in City streets may cause storm drainage issues during seasonal weather as well as other issues. Please dispose of yard waste properly. Some yard waste disposal options include using clippings as mulch, or simply leave grass clippings on the lawn. Janesville residents may also consider home composting or depositing debris at the City compost site.
Please note that burning yard waste is illegal within the Janesville City limits.
