Janesville Parking Ramp Receives New Electric Car Charging Stations
The parking ramp at 13 N. Parker Dr. in downtown Janesville now has two electric car charging stations installed and functional according to the City’s Public Works Department.
According to Janesville Director of Public Works Paul Woodard, installation of electric vehicle charging stations has been suggested by numerous residents and visitors over the years. Now that the City is becoming more of a technology hub, there are more people requesting additional parking for electric vehicles. Representatives from SHINE Medical technologies specifically expressed interest in stations in the public parking structure near their downtown headquarters.
The City worked with the Sustainable Janesville Committee (SFC) to advance this initiative on behalf of stakeholders. City Staff and the SJC researched vendors as well as other operational issues and information. The project was made possible by funding from TIF 36 arranged by Economic Development staff.
The two designated parking stalls are located on the bottom level of the parking ramp on the west side. Signs have been installed designating the spaces as electric car spaces for use only when charging.
